Love and Innocense : Flower Boy Ramen Shop

This is a repost from my original blog post posted on 12-4-2012.

After procrastinating, I finally finished watching this drama.  I thought I wasted some hours of my life watching this. Thanks goodness, I endured Il Woo's "childishness" during the first ten episodes or I could have missed the fact that this drama had some meat in it and that it was not just about Il Woo's pretty face.

The "childishness", although annoyed me at times turned out acceptable. That was what the drama all about anyway - a childish love. This drama tells about the story of a 19-year boy who falls in love with his teacher. The catch, he is not just an ordinary student because his family owns the school that he will soon inherit.  How complicated could that be?
Spoilers:
The first episode started out with Cha Chi Soo (Jeong Il Woo) arriving at the airport. Walkng tall and proud, he looked very striking in his black suit and glasses. When he realized his father had sent over some body guards to watch over him, his initial plan was to escape from their frim guarding. With a little effort, he managed to scape and run into a "peeing" Eun-bi (Lee Chung-ah) inside a poop cubicle in a public comfort room. That was their first encounter..and awkward at that.

I couldn't help but giggle at the comfort room scene. And in a poop cubicle really? Both shocked and embarrased, Eun-bi was frozen in position. Instantly, she was captured by the guys charm. She was bewitched by such a handsome stranger who just suddenly popped in front of her while she was in the middle of dealing her own business, sprinkling her stress and frustrations out to the world. What a stress reliever, his face. She was wide-eyed staring at him. I didn't get what had gotten into Chi-soo's mind upon recovering from his own shock but he drew himself closer to Eun-bi, his face near hers, his delicious lips almost touching hers. Eun-bi could only close her eyes to feel that sweet, tingling sensation.

Gosh, I held my breath at that scene. Haist, Il Woo and his kissable lips...and he was teasing me! Were they really going to kiss?

So, I was holding my breath expecting a kiss only to be dumbfounded by Chi-soo next line: "Pretty...the mole here is pretty (pointing on Eun-bi's mole on her cheek)". That had awaken her from a dream and pushed him away. Little did she know she'll meet him again in a classroom with Chi-soo being one of her students.

Basing on my own observation, this drama is trying to let the viewers know that Cha Chi-soo (Jeong Il-woo) has never been in a romantic relationship with any girl. What I mean romantic here is the literal romantic. He never once genuinely felt that romantic connection or love towards anyone. So basically, he is innocent when it comes to love. He has a girlfriend but only for the sake of having a girlfriend or to show off that he has. For him, girls are just receivers of designer labels and suckers of fame being his girlfriend who's young, rich, handsome and adored by everyone. He's never been in love, that's why when he fell for his teacher Eun-bi, he thought of it a strange feeling that he has never felt before.

Something to look forward to - Episode 8

Eun-bi, who although was captured by Chi-soo's charm resisted the attraction. At first, she always failed to realize Chi-soo was already displaying love for her, thinking he was only bullying as what he is known for. I understood Eun-bi. If I were her, I would as well be confused of Chi-soo's actions and think the same because everytime he does some caring or loving deeds that he innocently thought it were always end up disastrous. So for Eun-bi, Chi-soo was only making her life miserable...or rather confusing her heart.
